LEN COLELLA
Len Colella is a second generation musician. He is the leader, conductor and trumpet soloist with the Stan Colella Orchestra. Len has been involved with the Stan Colella Orchestra for years and since Stan’s death, has taken over the direction of the orchestra. Len handles all of the orchestra’s bookings, marketing, public relations, music library, contracting, technical support, and performances. Len and the Orchestra have opened shows for Al Martino and James Darren and musically supported performers such as Frank Sinatra Jr., Ronnie Milsap, Charo, Frankie Valli, Michael Amante, The Four Tops, The Temptations, and The Spinners, just to name a few. For over four decades, the Colella Orchestra has performed with such greats as: Tony Bennett, Marvin Hamlish Rosemary Clooney, Ben Vereen, Jerry Vale, Keely Smith, Andy Williams, Bob Eberly, Bob Hope, Engelbert Humperdinck, Dick Contino, Petula Clark, Joel Grey, Debbie Reynolds, The Four Aces, Jack Jones, Helen O’Connel, Henny Youngman, Jimmy Van Heusen, Liberace, Lou Rawls, Margaret Whiting, Mary Wilson, Vic Damone, Maxine Sullivan, Mickey Rooney, Natalie Cole, Roger Williams, The Four Freshman, The Four Lads, Bobby Rydell, Tony Randall, and Bobby Vinton. In May of 2004, the Syracuse Symphony performed a musical tribute to Stan in which Len was the guest conductor. This event filled the Civic Center to capacity crowds for two performances. In March of 2012, Len joined with Symphony Syracuse and conducted several performances featuring many of the Colella big band arrangements which features strings. The concert series titled “Hometown Big Band” showcased the musical talents of over 50 of Central New York’s finest musicians. Len is proud to carry on his father’s tradition as Leader and Conductor of the Stan Colella Orchestra.
Len was also the Executive Producer and marketed the Stan Colella Orchestra’s first recording, “The Big Band Sound of Stan Colella, His Trumpet and Orchestra.” He conducted the Colella Orchestra’s newest recording, ”The Stan Colella Orchestra Under the Direction of Len Colella”. Both recordings received rave reviews and have obtained national and international sales.
As the former Music Coordinator of the New York State Fair, his projects have included stage management and production for the following artists: Restless Heart, Gary Pucket, Cheap Trick, Laura Branigan, Herman’s Hermits, Isaac Hayes, Bowzer, America, The Oak Ridge Boys, Boyz II Men, David Clayton Thomas, Judy Collins, Lee Greenwood, Foreigner, Jim Belushi, Al Martino, James Darren, The Charlie Daniels Band, Rick Springfield, Eddie Money, Tony Orlando, Crystal Gayle, Frank Sinatra Jr., Ronnie Milsap, Charo, Frankie Valli, The Four Tops, The Temptations, The Spinners, Cyndi Lauper, Richard Marx, Ted Nugent, The Lettermen, Sheena Easton, Billy Ray Cyrus, Tesla, Joan Jett, Grand Funk Railroad, War, Dickey Betts, The Commodores, Frankie Avalon, Blue Oyster Cult, and Foghat.
